How to make homemade hamburgers and really how much they cost?

After the debate after the publication of our note The quality of the hamburgers of supermarket according to the OCU, in which we echoed a report in which the Organization of Consumers and Users analyzes the quality of 20 brands of packaged hamburgers, we want to ask ourselves how to make delicious homemade burgers and, above all, how much it costs to make them (compared to the average price of packaged hamburgers that we currently find in supermarkets).

And is that again citing the report carried out by the OCU, in general the quality of the meat of the products analyzed is very poor, finding us above all with cartilage and many tendons; in addition to an excess of fat, use of often unjustified additives and salt abuse. Therefore, what better than to opt for delicious homemade burgers?

Why opt for homemade burgers instead of the packaged ones?

Obviously it offers many advantages, especially and especially from a nutritional point of view.

On the one hand, by going to the butcher and asking for the meat we want, he will select and bite it in front of us, so that we will know the type of meat that we will really eat later (as it does not happen with 6 of the brands analyzed, which fail to indicate the percentage of meat).

In addition, if we take into account that most of the analyzed meat contained an excess of salt and sulfites, more fats and less protein, there is no doubt that opting for fresh meat will assure us the nutritional richness of the meat that we will consume later.

How much has it cost us to make homemade hamburgers?

Depending on the type of meat the price may vary a bit.

Regarding the first course, beef shoulder (or replacing it by year) is priced at € 8.95 / kg. Taking into account that we have used 750 grams, the final cost of this meat is € 6.71. Adding the rest of the ingredients, the recipe in total has gone for only € 9.50: just € 2.37 per plate.

Regarding the second dish, the fresh minced pork meat has a price between 4 to € 6.75 / kg. Which means that opting for its highest price, the meat has cost us € 2.37. Adding the rest of the ingredients, we find that in total we will have spent less than € 5 (when the average price per product of packaged hamburgers are around € 9, if we compare the average price of the 20 brands analyzed in the report of the OCU ): just € 1.25 per plate.

And regarding the time of preparation? Barely half an hour for the first recipe, and 1 hour 15 minutes for the second (during which we have only "worked" 15 minutes).

Bearing in mind that, according to the OCU, most of the meats analyzed are of poor quality, why not opt for homemade hamburgers if in reality it will cost us practically the same? It's just having a little time and doing minimal effort.
