There are some theories about its origin, the most widespread is attributed to the creation of Mongolian riders while on the other hand it is assured that it comes from the islands of French Polynesia.
The first theory states that it begins as a way of feeding in the hard Asian steppes. The horsemen belonging to a tribe of Mongolia deposited meat under the saddle of their horse to soften it and eat it. It is believed that the sweating of the animal spoiled the meat. It is believed that this method was used to heal the sores of horses caused by saddles.
The second theory considers that it is imported from French Polynesia where the consumption of raw meat was normal. This dish begins to appear in hotels and restaurants in the area in the twentieth century.
