List of acidic or acidifying foods

As we saw in the article dedicated to the acidic foods (inside our special about the pH of food), we talk about acidic foods or acidifying when its content in certain minerals tend to reduce the average pH of our body, which is characterized by a neutral pH slightly alkaline and ranges between 7.35 and 7.45.

That is, in the food we refer directly to the pH as an indicator of the acid content that exists in a certain food or drink, varying between 0 and 14, so that if a food or drink has or has a pH value of less than 7, consider acid.

As we have said on other occasions, the condition that a food is alkaline, neutral or acid is mainly due to its mineral content, and how these micronutrients tend to alter the pH of our body. As we indicated above, in the case of acidifying foods what they do is reduce the pH of our body.

On the other hand, it is possible to distinguish if a food is acid or alkaline depending on its composition or mineral richness. Therefore, while minerals such as phosphorus, iron, sulfur, iodine and chlorine are acidifying minerals, minerals such as magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium, sodium and manganese are alkaline.
