How to prevent vaginal fungi?

There are some tips that can be especially useful when it comes to prevent the appearance of vaginal fungi. Here are the most important ones:

  • Follow a healthy, varied and balanced diet. Choose foods that help stimulate and strengthen the immune system, which will help your body is much more resistant to infections. The most outstanding foods in this sense are those rich in B vitamins (such as eggs, whole grains, legumes, nuts, beef, chicken and pork), foods rich in iron (liver, nuts and whole grains) ), and foods rich in zinc (potatoes, pumpkin seeds, peaches, peanuts, cashews and celery).
  • Maintain proper hygiene of your intimate areas. It is advisable to always use neutral soaps that are respectful with your pH, and do not contain perfumes or deodorants.
  • Pay close attention to your clothes. Avoid synthetic or tight-fitting clothes, as they tend to cause a warm and humid environment, the main cause of fungal growth. It is better to opt for cotton underwear, fresh and not too tight.
  • Beware of summer: when you go to the beach or the pool it is normal for you to stay for several hours with the same swimsuit or bikini, which causes humidity to always be present. It is advisable to take a change and change it, which will help prevent fungi.
  • The hormonal changes caused by stress, pregnancy, consumption of contraceptives, corticosteroids or even the menstrual cycle itself can influence the woman's body to become more susceptible.
  • If you take antibiotics you should have some caution, as they increase the risk of vaginal yeast growth.
