Useful tips for when you go to buy fruit

The most abundant season in variety of fruits is undoubtedly summer. With the arrival of this season, fruit rich in abundance of liquids makes its presence, which in addition to hydrating refresh us and give us their vitamins, a source of health.

The fruit can be consumed by pieces or liquefied in juices that must be taken at the time of doing so that the fruit does not lose its vitamins. We can also consume it in salads.

As a source of health and benefit to our body, the fruit provides us with vitamins, minerals, nutrients, fructose that will help us carry out our activities, thanks to its fiber content it helps us to maintain a regulated digestive system and burn calories.

Beware of the amount of fruit you buy

It is very common that, when we go to buy fruits and vegetables, we do not know how much we are going to use for a certain recipe, or in short, how much we are going to consume in the following days. Thus, we tend to buy more than necessary, and both the fruit and the vegetables that we have purchased in the supermarket or in the market end up spoiling as the days go by.

When you go to buy fruit, do it in small quantities so you will not spoil it. It is better to go several times in a week to the supermarket (for example, because we have run out of apples or because we have finished with the handle of bananas), that we do not have to throw away the food because they have gotten bad quickly because we did not eat it .

Choose fruits always at their optimum ripeness

Just as we tend to buy fruit in excess, we must also bear in mind that, if we are going to consume it in the coming days, it is in its optimum state of maturity. But this depends directly on the piece of fruit that we are going to acquire.

Remember that it is not appropriate or pleasant to squeeze the fruit in the fruit shop every time we go to buy some kiwis or persimmons. Thus, it is best to ask the fruit grower so that it is he who offers us the fruit that we have chosen at its proper ripening point.

It is evident, for example, that we must avoid fruit that already appears spoiled or with insects. And in turn, there are different tricks to know if a fruit is ripe or not. In the case of avocados, for example, it is enough to try to remove the upper part, which is what links it to the branch of the tree. If it falls off easily, and its interior has yellow-greenish color, it means that it is at its optimum point of consumption.

With one exception: we can buy bananas something green, as it is common in the coming days to mature quickly, even more so if we are in summer and it is hot.

Also, choose them always fresh, and do not have blows or too mature. When you keep them in the refrigerator, make them in individual plastic bags and make holes in the bag.

Use an individual bag

It would be advisable not to mix different types of fruit in the same bag, since they do not all mature at the same time, and the one that is ripe or spoiled will harm the piece of fruit that is healthy.

If you have children and have a hard time eating fruit, an idea that usually works is to make "pinchitos de fruta". Use the sticks with which you usually make skewers of meat or skewers and cut into square pieces different types of fruit and then you are puncturing them on the stick. You can encourage the child to help you prepare them, they like to participate, they feel important when they see that they are helping you.
