Whole foods: good for health

If you have been following us for some time, you will probably have noticed because we usually take advantage of any occasion to talk about what it means to adopt a healthy food and healthy and healthy lifestyles for our health.

Not in vain, many experts in nutrition and dietetics recommend opting for whole-grain foods, since they conserve a lot of fiber, being precisely very good for the health of those people who consume them.

This main feature we have already known in previous moments, for example when we could know some of the most outstanding benefits of whole grains.

Whole foods and health

Both in whole grains and in wholemeal pasta we find the so-called soluble fiber, which helps lower blood cholesterol levels, while participating in our healthier heart.

Start the day with a good nutritive breakfast, in which cereals or whole grain bread are present, and some other fruit rations are an ideal option not only for the little ones, but also for ourselves.

Of course, be careful with excess fiber, as it contains substances called phytates, which tend to reduce the absorption and use by the body of various minerals, such as zinc or calcium.

Types of fiber that exist

  • Soluble: It is a type of fiber that has more health benefits than the insoluble, which will be discussed below. Among other aspects, it prevents colon cancer, regulates intestinal transit, helps to level blood glucose and balances cholesterol.
  • Insoluble: It is just as beneficial to health as soluble, but less so. Of course, also acts on the intestinal transit, while having a laxative effect, being ideal in cases of constipation.
