Delicious pea and bacon salad, cold and easy to make

On this occasion we propose one of the pea salad recipes most popular and classic, consisting of an exquisite cold pea salad and bacon taquitos.

Traditional recipe of pea salad with bacon

The recipe that we propose below is the traditional recipe, which is commonly accompanied with bacon. Do you dare to prepare it with us? It is very simple, and the result is exquisite.

Ingredients for 4 people):

  • 500 gr of peas
  • 200 gr of bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 4 eggs
  • Ground black pepper
  • Salt
  • 1 stream of extra virgin olive oil
  • Mayonnaise (optional)

Preparation of the pea and bacon salad:

The first thing we are going to do is peel the onion and cut it into small squares. Reserve it.

Now put water in a saucepan or casserole and when it starts to boil, put the peas, as long as they are not already cooked (that is, if you prefer fresh or frozen). When they are cooked and tender, remove them from the water and drain well.

Cut the bacon into taquitos and put a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil in a pan. Put the onion and sauté it. Just when it starts to take color add the bacon and sauté everything well for a few minutes.

This moment throw the peas drained in the pan and stir well so that all the flavors are integrated perfectly. Add salt to taste above. Finally reserve until it cools.

Meanwhile, we can prepare some boiled eggs to continue completing and making our pea salad. To do this, put water in a saucepan until the eggs are covered and let them cook in the water for a sufficient time until they are cooked and stay hard. When they are ready remove the water carefully and let them cool.

To finish, carefully remove the egg shell, and cut the egg into squares. Mix with the salad, add ground black pepper and, if desired, add mayonnaise to taste.

Recipe for pea salad, bacon, potatoes and yogurt sauce

We also propose another equally delicious option, in which a little more flavor is added with the exquisite yogurt sauce.

Ingredients for 4 people):

  • 500 gr of peas
  • 200 gr of bacon
  • 200 gr of potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 4 hard boiled eggs
  • 1 drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
  • Yogurt sauce (you can choose our light yogurt sauce recipe)
  • Ground black pepper
  • Salt

Preparation of the pea salad, bacon, potatoes and yogurt sauce:

First peel the onion and cut into small squares. Do the same with the potatoes, cutting them into a size to taste. Reserve them.

Now put water in a saucepan or casserole and when it starts to boil, put the peas to cook them. If they are canned and they are already cooked, you do not need to do this step. If they are fresh or frozen, when they are cooked and tender, remove them from the water and drain well.

In another saucepan put the potatoes with plenty of water and cook until they are tender. When they are ready, drain them and reserve them.

Cut the bacon into taquitos and put a little oil in a pan (we always prefer to use extra virgin olive oil). Put the onion and fry it well. Just when it starts to take color add the bacon and sauté everything well for a few minutes.

At this moment, put the drained peas in the pan, the potatoes and stir everything well so that all the flavors are integrated perfectly. Also, in this way you will get the potatoes to stay a little more crispy. Add salt to taste over and a little ground black pepper. Reserve until it cools.

To finish, serve the salad on plates and pour over a little yogurt sauce. List! You can enjoy it now
