How to prevent skin cancer easily

Sometimes it appears as a lump, sore, imperfection, mark or unusual change in the appearance of the skin. At other times it is a mole that changes in size, shape, texture or color. It can be a skin cancerTherefore, before the slightest change it is best to go to the dermatologist as soon as possible, or at least once a year to control the moles that we have in our body.

The truth is that during the summer the risks of suffering from skin cancer increase considerably, since prolonged and continuous exposure to the sun's rays becomes a risk of getting this type of cancer, especially if you do not take the proper precautions and also sunbathe at the least recommended times of the day (considered the most dangerous, and therefore of greatest risk).

And now that we are in summer it is always a great opportunity to discover how can we prevent skin cancer. Did you know that it is possible to do it now, following only a few simple, simple and easy tips? Take note, the health of your skin is very important:

1. Protect your skin always

  • Before leaving home: especially in summer and when you will spend a few hours away from home. It is recommended to wear it always half an hour before going outside.
  • Before sunbathingObviously, not when you are already on the beach or in the pool, but before leaving home. In this sense it is recommended to put on sunscreen half an hour before sunbathing.
  • Apply sunscreen every two hours: if you find yourself sunbathing, but you have not gotten into the water, it is advisable to renew your sunscreen every 2 hours.
  • Renew the sunscreen every time you leave the water: although it is usual for most sunscreens to form a protective film so that the effect of sunscreen does not disappear when entering the water, it is advisable to always renew it.

2. Choose the most suitable sunscreen for your skin

So that the sun cream fulfills its function it is very important to know what protection index we should apply on our skin.

For this it may be useful to follow the following examples:

  • If you have a very clear skin that never tans and burns easily your protection index should be greater than 50.
  • If you have a skin that tans but burns easily, your protection index is located between 25 to 40.
  • If you have skin that tans easily, your protection index is located between 15 to 25.

3. Avoid the most dangerous hours of the day

Always avoid sunbathing during the most dangerous hours of the day: between 12 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon (In this sense, some dermatologists even consider that it is more advisable not to sunbathe from 10 in the morning).

Protect yourself from the direct sun, looking for a place with shade, using hat or cap and approved sunglasses, and using a good umbrella.

4. Avoid sunbeds

Although they have been popular for years, the truth is that there has been a higher risk of skin cancer in those people who tan their skin regularly through sunbeds.

In fact, did you know that these solar beds emit ultraviolet rays 10 times stronger than if you exposed to direct sunlight ?.

5. The importance of early detection

Early detection is always fundamental. Therefore it is advisable that you check your body periodically, especially to notice if a mole or spot has suddenly appeared, or one that you already had changes in size and color.

It is also recommended go to the dermatologist at least once a year, who will perform a routine exam.
