The oil test to know if you are pregnant
There is no doubt that the most effective way to know if a woman is pregnant or not is from the urine test, which involves depositing some of the first morning urine in a small tool consisting of a strip Reactive absorbent, capable of detecting the presence of the hormone chorionic gonadotropin (HGC), also known as the pregnancy hormone.
But for this urine test to show a positive result and therefore that it is effective it is necessary that in the blood have sufficient levels of the hormone HGC, so that a level of this hormone below 25-50 mlU / mL will tend to be negative.
Therefore it is best not to rush at the time of the test, and wait a few more days so that in case of actual pregnancy does not give a false negative result.
There is also a blood test which basically consists of measuring the level of the HGC hormone directly in the blood, which becomes an even more reliable test than the urine test because it is able to detect if the woman is pregnant or not between 6 to 8 days after the conception.
While for the urine test it is necessary to wait at least 2 weeks, although today it is possible to find much more sensitive urine tests in pharmacies capable of detecting pregnancy just 6 days after conception.
But when there were no urine or blood tests, our moms and grandmothers used what are now known as home pregnancy tests, consisting basically of home remedies that can be useful in this regard.
Although we should make it clear from the outset that these home tests are not as reliable as for example the different pregnancy tests you can find in pharmacies, with a reliability of almost 99%.
One of the most popular or known is the one called oil test, which has passed from generation to generation of grandmothers to mothers and later to their own granddaughters.
What is the oil test and what is it?
It is one of the most classic and traditional tests that mothers once used to know if they were pregnant or not.
In fact, many people consider it one of the oldest and most used tests, and many consider it as a reliable home pregnancy test, although we reserve this opinion obviously because its reliability has not been scientifically verified. However, some women who have used it say that its reliability is between 70 to 80%.
How to do the pregnancy test with oil?
To do it, you need a glass of clean glass, a little olive oil and your own rust (it is better that it be the first you do in the morning).
You must urinate inside the container, and let the sample cool for about an hour.
With the help of a dropper or a sterilized spoonful add two drops of olive oil in another container. In it you will add a little rust without it getting to take the oil.
Wait a few more hours: if you see that the rust and oil have joined together, it means that
you are pregnant. But if they have been quiet and have not been touched, it would mean that you are not pregnant.
Warning: You must bear in mind that this pregnancy test is not much less reliable, so it can not serve as a positive or negative diagnosis at all. We recommend you see your doctor or perform a medical test (for example, a blood test or urine test) to confirm whether you are pregnant or not.
